Beer & Tapas SIG (8 pm, 7/27)
Our Haight St. tapas haunt, Cha Cha Cha, had a grease fire and was temporarily out of commission. However, it turns out that Cha^3 has another location (aka instance, thread) in the upper Mission District. So, we have another (and much larger) venue, which looks suitable for SFPUGging.
Tapas, BTW, consists of small plates of delicious food. Most of the dishes are Caribbean or Brazilian-influenced. Vegetarian fare is quite possible and the staff tends to be accommodating. One time, our table of hackers ordered (and received) two spinach salads with "all the bacon on one salad and all the mushrooms on the other". Nice.
Because this instance also inherits from a parent class of Irish_Pub, you can get an Irish Coffee (or whatever) to go along with your tapas. The restaurant also inherited an oversized rendition of a hamburger, if that suits you.

The restaurant can easily handle an SFPUG-sized crowd, but they might be hard-pressed to seat us all together without some advance notice. In particular, if we want a shot at taking over their "back room", we'll need to present them with a fairly good estimate.
So, although I really don't want the paperwork either, I'm afraid I have to request reservations for this venue. You are welcome to "drop in", to be sure, but you should know that reservation may carry a certain, erm, priority if we get pressed for seating...
