WARNING: Several lightning talks have been cancelled.

Today's lightning talks are shaping up to be very lightning-fast indeed... A couple of speakers did not confirm, and two more slots cancelled today. I believe I have a grand total of three speakers at this point.

If you still want to come, you're welcome; I'll be here. After the talks, we'll go out for drinks or some such. Anyway, I thought I should warn people, lest they show up and be disappointed. :/

Lightning talks October 26, 2004

For our next meeting, we're planning something a little different. Those of you who've gone to OSCON know about Lightning Talks: lots of five-minute presentations combined in one time slot. They're fun, they're pithy, and they're a good way to transmit information that is important but that doesn't fill a full-bore presentation slot.

We have the following talks planned; we'll also take volunteers on the spot. We should finish the meeting fairly early, so we'll go out for drinks and/or dessert.

  • Bob Goolsby on a useful use of Acme::Bleach in production
  • Rich Morin on weird data structures
  • David Fetter on license gotchas with certain code in CPAN
  • Quinn Weaver on Getopt::Declare, my current favorite Damian module
  • Bob Goolsby on a tour of Net::
